A folklore museum in a traditional house on the road to Agios Savvas: the customs, crafts and sponge-diving history of Kalymnos.
Step inside a Kalymnian home of the past. Rooms laid out as they once were (the loom, the kitchen, the dining room set for guests, the bridal dress and the diver's gear) tell the story of birth, engagement and marriage on the island, the daily work of its women and the traditional trades of Kalymnos. The tour is narrated by a sponge diver's daughter and comes with a glass of local homemade wine. It has been recognised by HATTA and the Greek Ministry of Tourism. Guided tours in Greek and English at 10:00, 12:00 and 13:00. Guidance is also offered in German, Russian, Turkish, Italian, Romanian, Hungarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Swedish and French. The museum is on the road to Agios Savvas; reach it by tour bus, taxi or the public bus.
